Ingrid Newkirk (born 1949) is best known for her activism regarding animal rights. She is a British citizen who founded the organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Newkirk has spent her adult life advocating for the rights of earth's nonhuman inhabitants, sometimes in very provocative ways.
