Bag om Organization of Federal Executive Departments and Agencies, No. 21
The Government Printing Office designated the Earl K. Long Library as a federal depository in 1963. The library began receiving documents in 1964. The University of New Orleans Library selects material from every government department and agency. A hearing is a public meeting or conference of a House, Senate, joint, or special committee of Congress, to obtain information and opinions on proposed legislation, conduct an investigation, or evaluate/oversee the activities of a government department or to implement a Federal law. In addition, hearings may also be purely exploratory in nature, providing testimony and data about topics of current interest. Most congressional hearings are published sixty days to two years after the meeting is held. This is one of those documents.
