Orphee Aux Enfers - Jacques Offenbach - Bog

Bag om Orphee Aux Enfers

Orphee Aux Enfers, also known as Orpheus in the Underworld, is an operetta composed by Jacques Offenbach in 1868. The story is a satirical take on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and centers around the unhappy marriage of the two main characters, Orpheus and Eurydice. After Eurydice is kidnapped by Pluto, the god of the underworld, Orpheus travels to the underworld to rescue her. However, when he arrives, he finds that Eurydice is not interested in leaving, and instead joins in the wild and debaucherous festivities of the underworld. The operetta is known for its lively and irreverent music, as well as its humorous take on the Greek myth. It has been performed and adapted numerous times, and remains a popular work in the operatic repertoire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
