Bag om Potentially Malignant Disorders: A Brief Review
Today¿s world is facing a major problem in form of oral cancer. Millions of people suffer from this disease and die an unnatural death. Therefore, the need of hour is to detect oral cancer at an early stage. Virtually, most of the oral cancers develop from precancerous stages like oral leukoplakia, erythroplakia, oral lichen planus, oral submucous fibrosis which are now collectively termed as Potentially Malignant Disorders (PMDs). To understand their etiology, pathophysiology and histopathology, we attempted to introduce and explain all the PMDs under one roof. This book provides a quick review about various aspects of PMDs. Clinical aspects and histopathology of major PMDs are explained with pictures. Most of the pictures are from patients coming to our department during my post graduation. It will greatly help to correlate all the aspects of individual PMD and will further help in timely identification as well as treatment interventions.
