LAPD Detective Van Eng is assigned to the Cold Case Homicide Special Section. Van and her LAPD colleagues are tasked with investigating the murder, which leads them back to the Silicon Valley and Van's former suitor, Dr. Brian Johannsen, a scientist whose is experimenting with nanobots enhanced by artificial intelligence.
