Bag om The Little Lemon Tree That Stood!: A nature story for 8-9 year olds and "young-at-hearts" adults.
The setting of "The Little Lemon Tree That Stood!", is a suburban garden in Cape Town(South Africa), yet could be anywhere in the world with a similar climate. It endeavours to portray the co-existence of nature and the "people of the house" through the eyes and ears of an unusually astute lemon-tree. It hints at underlying mysteries of our everyday existence as experienced and observed by the inimitable lemon-tree and its muse ... It shows us our interconnectedness as it takes us through the seasons and relates us to a wider context. It teaches us that if we take note we are rewarded with new insights. Finally it enables school children to refine their vocabulary and it is advised that they read it with an adult for this purpose.Ecological awareness of caring! How do we introduce our children who are still in the magical zone of story telling before the age of 10+ to the needs and understanding of our planet Earth? The Age of Consciousness in which we find ourselves demands that we understand our role and responsibilities in relation to our environment and Nature to an ever greater extend. As an introduction to the bigger picture and the movement through the seasons in our immediate environment "The Little Lemon-Tree That Stood!" is meant to grow the young child's awareness and understanding of Nature's unique qualities and to encourage the observation of some of its underlying realities..
