The Participation Movement and the Brazilian Nursing Association - James Farley Estevam Dos Santos - Bog

Bag om The Participation Movement and the Brazilian Nursing Association

In this book, the dear reader will find a dedicated social-historical study of the implications of the culture of the Participation Movement for the (re)conception of the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEn) and for the reforms of the association's statutes that took place in 1986 and 1988. The ABEn is the civil entity that represents the nursing profession in Brazil and Participation was a popular movement of workers and students who acted in the 1980s with a view to (re)democratizing the Association and making it more combative and independent. To tell this story, Antonio Gramsci's philosophical thinking on Cultural Hegemony was taken as a theoretical reference, so the book provides a brief review of the history of the ABEn and its Statute, a detailed narrative of the methodology used to construct the research, followed by explanations of Gramscian theory, culminating in an analysis of the Brazilian situation and the Association in the period studied and the implications of the Movement's ideology in the associative world. We hope to contribute to the ongoing process of (re)conceiving the ABEn and to strengthening the feeling of companionship among nursing professionals. Enjoy your studies!
