En begavet kunstner, der leverede uforglemmelige præstationer på landets teatre og brillerede i et utal af filmroller – fra Styrmand Karlsen over Karl Aage i Dansen med Regitze til lektor Blomme i Det forsømte forår.Men det er også historien om en følsom mand, der livet igennem kæmpede med at løsrive sig fra sin berømte far, Osvald Helmuth, og med at holde styr på sine mange roller uden for rampelyset: som ægtemand, fader, søn og ven.
