Aus welchen Gründen treten Politiker*innen aus dem Amt zurück? Was sind die Hintergründe, Motive und Konsequenzen einer solchen Entscheidung? Müssen Rücktritte zwingend Resultat eines Scheiterns sein oder kann es auch ¿erfolgreiche¿ Rücktritte geben? In diesem Band werden theoretische Grundlagen der Rücktrittsforschung aus rechtlicher und politikwissenschaftlicher Perspektive erarbeitet, Rücktrittskulturen in unterschiedlichen Ländern vergleichend untersucht sowie verschiedene Fallbeispiele in ihren spezifischen Einzelfallbedingungen unter die Lupe genommen.

Es kennzeichnet gegenwärtige Wahrnehmungen, dass sich die verschiedenen krisenhaften Entwicklungen, seien sie im Ursprung biologischer (Corona), technischer (Klima), kultureller (Identität) oder grundlegend politischer (Macht und Legitimität) Natur, in unklarer Weise aufeinander beziehen und zu vermischen scheinen. Und je stärker die eigentlichen Merkmale einer Krise ¿ die fundamentale Unsicherheit und die Überforderung etablierter Managementstrategien ¿ eine Situation dominieren, desto krasser können Glaubenssätze und Narrative auseinanderdriften und desto unvereinbarer werden die Rezepte für das jeweils geeignete Krisenmanagement. Die Unkenntnis über das Coronavirus rechtfertigte im Grunde jegliche Strategie der Krisenbewältigung, vom Laissez-faire bis zur absoluten Kontrolle, alles dazwischen oder auch fortwährende Richtungsanpassungen (¿Auf Sicht fahren¿). Gleichzeitig bot sie die Voraussetzungen für eine tiefgreifende Politisierung des politisch-administrativen Krisenmanagements. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes diskutieren Probleme von Regierung, Verwaltung und Kritischen Infrastrukturen in der Corona-Pandemie.

The book consists of four chapters. The first one contains information about the topic which introduce the project's characteristics, and, at the same time, provide the background for further theoretical and methodological reflection. The second chapter contains a list of research problems and questions, a presentation of the philosophical worldviews (research paradigms) of the project team who guided the planned research and which resulted in the adoption of research strategies compatible with them, and, consequently, procedures and techniques for obtaining source materials and their analysis. In the third chapter, we present a set of terms, ideas, and concepts which inspired the project team as useful tools for describing and analysing the phenomenon under study. The fourth chapter is a kind of ligature that binds together all the previous findings, it is a summary of integrating ideas, concepts, as well as the adopted research procedures and techniques.

The central premise of this book is that the interplay between the cohesion of economic elites and the mobilization of popular sectors at specific historical junctures profoundly influences the nature of elite political involvement.While existing literature has extensively discussed the strategies employed by economic elites to safeguard their interests, this book takes a fresh approach by considering three primary configurations of relationships between economic elites and political parties. It explores cases where economic elites are the primary constituency of parties they have founded, as well as instances where upper-class interests are predominantly defended outside the party system through mechanisms such as the armed forces, pressure groups, and lobbying. Additionally, it examines scenarios where economic elites align themselves with parties boasting a polyclass constituency, exerting limited influence over these parties.This book goes beyond traditional analyses by proposing a theory that elucidates how the interaction between elite cohesion and popular sector mobilization determines the specific forms of elite political involvement. This handbook presents the roots of symbolic racism as partly in both anti-black antagonism and non-racial conservative attitudes and values, representing a new form of racism independent of older racial and political attitudes. By doing so, it homes in on certain historical incidents and episodes and presents a cogent analysis of anti-black, Jim Crowism, anti-people of color (Black, Latino, Native Americans), and prejudice that exists in the United States and around the world as a central tenet of racism. The book exposes the reader to the nature and practice of stereotyping, negative bias, social categorization, modern forms of racism, immigration law empowerment, racialized incarceration, and police brutality in the American heartland. It states that several centuries of white Americans' negative socializing culture marked by widespread negative attitudes toward African Americans, are not eradicated and are still rife. Further, the book provides a panoramic view of trends of racial discrimination and other negative and desperate challenges that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color face across the world. Das Buch ist die erste historische Darstellung des Tiroler Ständewesens in der zweiten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts. Es wird darin en détail die institutionelle und personelle Entwicklungsgeschichte der Tiroler Landschaft im Zeitalter des Aufgeklärten Absolutismus der Habsburgermonarchie rekonstruiert. Dadurch wird nachgewiesen, dass die vier Stände ¿ Klerus, Adel, Bürger und Bauern ¿ ihren regionalen Herrschaftsanspruch während der maria-theresianischen und josephinsichen Reformära behaupten konnten. Mit der vorliegenden Monographie wird somit der regionalhistorische Topos von der ¿Entmachtung" und dem ¿politischen Stillleben" des Tiroler Ständewesens im späten 18. Jahrhundert widerlegt und gezeigt, dass es den Landesherren nicht gelang, die landständische Selbstverwaltung zu zerstören.

Este libro propone el estudio transnacional de las literaturas transicionales en Europa. El corpus de la literatura transicional está formado por aquellos textos literarios cuya trama incorpora el relato del proceso de transición política en uno o varios de los países que lo experimentaron, ya en el Sur de Europa (1974-1975) o ya en el Este (1989-1991). Se propone una cronología conjunta para este estudio que vincula al año 1968 el origen cultural e ideológico de las transiciones políticas y sus relatos. La caída del Muro y la disolución de la Unión Soviética (1989¿1991) constituyen un segundo momento en la articulación de los relatos transicionales. Por último, la crisis financiera de 2007 trajo la reescritura y resignificación de los procesos transicionales, que sigue produciéndose en la actualidad.Este es un libro de estudios literarios atravesado por consideraciones sobre los géneros, formas y temas que cifran la experiencia histórica de haber alcanzado la democracia en Europa.
