In the Footsteps of the Freemasons in Vienna - Robert A. Minder - Bog

Bag om In the Footsteps of the Freemasons in Vienna

How did Freemasonry come to Vienna? How did it develop? Was it welcome, tolerated or even forbidden? This book answers these and other questions, telling the story of Free- masonry in Vienna from its beginnings in 1742 until today. As befits a guidebook, it also contains detailed tours that il- lustrate the history of Viennese Freemasonry. For example, one tour begins at the Maria Theresien-monument; although she was an opponent of Freemasonry, there were seven Free- masons among her confidants. The Albertina and Josefsplatz are also places with strong Masonic connections. A chapter is also dedicated to outstanding Viennese Freemasons and their accomplishments, some of which still have an impact today. For six years Robert A. Minder served as the Grand Lodge of Austria's archivist and has made many historical finds for this book, including anecdotes and stories about Freemasons and Freemasonry. A book on contemporary history, written for Masons and non- Masons alike.
