With the first appointment of the outstanding performance artist Marina Abramovic to the Pina Bausch Professorship at the Folkwang University of the Arts, the focus in the 2023-23 academic year was placed on transdisciplinarity, artistic daring and social awareness.The project supervised by Abramovic, entitled "Free Interdisciplinary Performance Laboratory (FIPL)", was realised in a class put together by her, in which she brought together over 20 students from the fields of music (classical and jazz, instrumental, vocal and composition), dance, design, photography, (physical) theatre and directing. The students developed individual or collective concepts for performances and learnt how to develop a long-term performative work form in an experience-based process. In a workshop entitled "Cleaning the House", which was organised according to a method developed by Marina Abramovicmethod developed by Marina Abramovic, the students developed a sense of the presence required in performances, including the exploration of their individual physical and mental limits. The outstanding performance artist Marina Abramovic was the first holder of the new Pina Bausch Professorship at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen in 2022/23. She focused on transdisciplinarity, artistic daring and social awareness. In her Free Interdisciplinary Performance Laboratory (FIPL), Abramovic brought together over twenty students from the fields of music, dance, design, photography, (physical) theater and directing. Over two semesters, they realized artistic-performative projects that dealt with agency, resilience and body awareness and explored physical and mental boundaries.

Dieser Band thematisiert neben Deutungen, Figuren und der Aufführungsgeschichte des Werkes auch Aspekte der Verfilmungen.

This book provides findings on the simulation of the valve dynamic to the current technological standards. Above all, it delivers a simulation based and predictive approach on the fatigue strength assessment of four-stroke heavy-duty engine valves. The demand for more efficient combustion engines with fuel flexibility goes along with increasing component requirements regarding strength and durability, while the development costs should remain low. In this context, the present book focuses on the gas exchange valves of heavy-duty engines. Especially, the valves on the exhaust side have an increased risk of fatigue failure. The aim of this book is the generation of a predictive fatigue strength assessment to strengthen the frontloading of the exhaust valve design process and to increase the reliability of the component. In the context of fatigue assessment, this book examines the loads of the exhaust valve during its working cycle. Beside the high temperature and cylinder pressure, further loads act on the exhaust valve like actuation force or an eccentric impact of the valve on the valve seat ring. Furthermore, a bold valve secondary dynamic in the form of valve bending vibrations is observed on the exhaust valves of heavy-duty engines increasing the valve load even more. The cause of this secondary dynamic is unknown. This book investigates the valve loads to get the necessary input for the fatigue strength assessment. With respect to a predictive approach, the determination of valve dynamic and valve loads is based on a multibody simulation model of the valve train. In order to deliver predictive results and a transferable method, this simulation model includes all relevant physical effects to describe the valve dynamic accurately during all valve load phases of the working cycle. With the simulation model, the root cause for the bold valve secondary dynamic is examined iteratively. The model delivers not only the cause for the valve secondary dynamic but most importantly the critical valve loads. These loads deliver the input for the fatigue strength assessment. To ensure the robustness of the load data determined by the simulation model, the sensitivity of influences on the valve load is examined. In this context geometrical misalignment, fluctuations in load data and variable engine operation points are considered. A load collective based on the variation of influences on the valve load is the result of this analysis. All the results of the influence and sensitivity study are generated with the newly developed simulation model of the valve train. Moreover, this book outlines measurements on a testbed engine. In scope of these measurements are temperature and strain measurements of the valve. The generated data validate the simulation model of the valve train. Additionally, the statistical evaluation of the data is used in the subsequent fatigue strength assessment to increase the reliability of the results.
This Green Book provides the design engineer with an understanding of the electrical parameters and methods required in designing compact AC and DC lines. Compact AC and DC lines are becoming increasingly necessary due to the limitation of right of way access and the need to upgrade power transfer in existing, narrower line corridors. Another requirement for compact AC lines is the lower impedance permitting increased power flow.For DC power lines, increased power flow can only be realised by increasing the current through the conductors and/or increasing line voltage. In AC it can also be achieved by bundle expansion and phase compaction due to the variation of impedance. The effect of compaction on AC and DC lines is not identical as with the constraints. The Green Book covers the theory relating to the constraints such as corona, audible noise, insulation coordination, electric and magnetic fields and others for both AC and DC lines.In addition to the theory, the Green Book includes actual calculations of electric parameters for different pole (DC) and phase (AC) configurations. Standards applied by various countries are tabulated for easy comparison of practices internationally. Case studies on line compaction designs for both AC and DC are described with relation to pole compaction, pole rearrangement and phase configuration. Voltage upgrading is also treated in this book, and some case studies for both AC and DC are considered.
