Så kom den .......endelig !. Her er bogen der ikke kunne købes i 1989 da jeg havde besluttet mig for at ville prøve roadracing på lukket bane. Hvilken cykel skulle man købe, hvad skulle man gøre ved den, hvor kunne man købe reservedele til at ombygge den, hvilket personligt udstyr krævedes der, hvor kunne man køre på den ??. Jo spørgsmålene var mange og ubesvarede for der var faktisk ikke nogen i min omgangskreds der kunne besvare ovenstående, heller intet Internet, Facebook, mm. Kort sagt, jeg var på herrens mark. Løsningen blev "Learning by doing", hvilket da kan have sin charme, men i en materiel sport, også til tider en undøvendig dyr fornøjelseMed denne bog som er fremragende beskrevet, er ikke bare trackdaykørere men måske også "rigtige" racerkørere godt hjulp på vej med såvel tekniske tips, som almindelige gode praktiske råd om hvordan man kommer godt i gang med trackday kørsel. Man behøver måske ikke nødvendigvis at følge bogens tips slavisk, men måske bare tage sin gadecykel og plukke de ideer bogen er fyldt med, inden man tager af sted til det første arrangement.Bogen kan både bruges som inspiration og appetitvækker der forhåbentlig kan inspirere nye til at tage springet ind i denne fantastiske sport der byder på fart, spænding, udfordring under ordnede sikre forhold, samt muligheden for nye venskaber med ligesindede. Frantz Schrum og hans kolleger har slidt mange tusinde kilometer asfaldt fra Danmark til det gamle Østeuropa og videre ud i Mellemøstens store sandkasse fra Syrien og Jordan til det daværende Persien, Bagdad, Riyadh og Saudi Arabien. Mens den Kolde Krig lurede og russerne holdt Østeuropa i et jerngreb kørte chaufførerne intetanende ind i Tjekkoslovakiet mens russerne buldrede frem i deres store tanks fram og intervenerede landet. I 1968 var de danske chauffører vidner til en førstesekretær for kommunistpartiet ved navn Alexander Dubcêk, fik sat Tjekkoslovakiet på den anden ende i forsøger på at gennemføre en fredelig revolution. Russerne krummede ikke et hår på de danske chaufførers hoved. Men Forsvarets Efterretningstjeneste stod klar med notesblokken når chaufførerne vendte hjem fra deres mission. Man må spørge sig selv, hvilken chaufførhar ikke kysset og kærestet med Rosa og Danuta på "Na Stare Posta". Hvem har ikke fået asfaltkuller og drukket igennem et døgn eller to for at stå strabadserne igennem. Det er et stykke dansk kulturhistorie om de store mænd og kvinder, der satte sig bag rattet og trådte sømmet i bund. Det er deres historier. Deres erindringer med sprogblomster og brændevin serveret råt for usødet.
