At the same time, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio treats the same theme in Désert from his own point of view. What attracts attention in these two works is the fact that the journey is first physical, before turning into an inner quest. Indeed, the characters leave their homes and it is through this physical displacement that their communication with the outside world evolves.
