Les résultats d¿une étude de quatre ordres d¿insectes aquatiques Ephéméroptères, Plécoptères, Trichoptères et Coléoptères Elmidae-Hydraenidae (EPTC) dans les cours d¿eau de la Kabylie du Djurdjura (Algérie du Nord) sont exposés. La recherche a été menée sur 30 stations (140 et 1680 m d¿altitude) regroupant une grande variété d¿eau courantes, depuis les ruisseaux de sources jusqüaux grands cours d¿eau de plaine. Les échantillonnages ont été effectués de mars 2014 à juin 2016 à raison de cinq récoltes en moyenne par année. 79 taxa ont été dénombrés : Ephéméroptères 19, Plécoptères 23, Trichoptères 19 et Coléoptères Elmidae-Hydraenidae 18. Marthamea bayae est nouvellement décrite, le genre Marthamea est nouveau pour l¿Afrique du Nord et six autres espèces sont de nouvelles citations pour l¿Algérie et/ou la Kabylie (P. algirica bejaiana, L. khroumiriensis, H. (H.) leprieuri, L. pilicauda, O. (O.) bifoveolatus et L. intermedius). Beaucoup d¿espèces sont communes avec la faune de l¿Europe méditerranéenne. La faune EPTC de Kabylie est nettement paléarctique, dominée par des éléments à distribution ouest-méditerranéenne. Les endémiques sont nombreux.

Environmental sustainability and climate change implications in the mountain ecosystems in general and mountainous regions of the Global South in particular are key concerns of the present-day world. In particular, the mountainous regions in the Global South are excessively being subjected to haphazard developmental activities making them vulnerable to all possible aspects of climate change. Ecologically fragile and biodiversity-rich (considered ¿hotspot¿ of biodiversity) Himalayan Region (HR) is subjected to high vulnerability due to climate change and unsustainable developmental activities. A major portion of the Indian HR, for instance, has gradually been endangered by intense environmental burden owing to rapid and haphazard urbanization, extreme weather events, etc. Unfortunately, environmental sustainability studies in many parts of the region are stillinadequate. Accordingly, in this book, the authors provide a detailed account of the Himalayas in the epoch of Anthropocene¿¿the most recent period in Earth¿s history when human activity started to have a significant impact on the planet¿s climate and ecosystems" (as defined by the National Geographic Society). Spatial pattern information of carbon (C) density and storage in forest ecosystems plays an important role in the evaluation of C sequestration potential and forest management practices. However, such information related to subtropical forests still remain poorly understood. In this boook, the Moran¿s I, geostatistics and geographical information system (GIS) techniques were applied to reveal the spatial pattern of C stocks in forest ecosystems. Moreover, the typical forest types such as Moso Bamboo forest, Chinese hickory plantation et al. were also chosen to study the carbon distribution and its controlling factors. Our study revealed that in order to enhance the C sequestration potentials, forest management should focus on the selection of tree species, management of stand-age structures and implementation of sustainable afforestation and reforestation practices in the future.

Aufgrund seiner Nutzung können sich Mikroorganismen dort leicht ansiedeln und massenhaft vermehren. Häusliche Aktivitäten wie Waschen und offener Stuhlgang, sogar Abwasser- und Müllentsorgung, die im Fluss stattfinden, führen dazu, dass sich Mikroorganismen im Fluss vermehren, wandern oder unter ungünstigen Umständen Sporen bilden, wodurch der Fluss für den menschlichen und tierischen Verzehr ungeeignet wird. Der Verzehr solchen Wassers kann zu Cholera, Diarrhöe, Magen-Darm-Erkrankungen und so weiter führen. Bevor der Nworie-Fluss für den Hausgebrauch genutzt werden kann, muss er daher zunächst gereinigt werden.

La consommation de cette eau peut entraîner le choléra, la diarrhée, la gastro-entérite, etc. Il est donc pertinent de noter qu'avant d'être utilisée pour des activités domestiques, l'eau de la rivière Nworie doit d'abord subir certains processus de purification.
