His vehicle is a peacock, a pious bird that grips with its feet a serpent, which symbolizes Ego and desires of people. Peacock represents destroyer of harmful habits and conqueror of sensual desires. Kartikeya are being worshipped along and during Durga Puja. Lord Kartik is primarily worshipped among those who intend to have a son.
